"Lounge" - Crash of Cars - Map Overview

This messy lounge room was the first map I had the pleasure to work on for Crash of Cars. It was the first time we had a map with large height disparities, so we had to come up with interesting visual solutions regarding the game's orthographic camera and being able to indicate height changes.

'Lounge' required a lot of unique assets to make it look cluttered and messy, which is something different from the previous maps in CoC up to that point. We managed to achieve the messy look without adding too much more to the game in terms of data by clever use of scattering and spacing between objects.

I also really like the staircase area of the map which descends below the map (it is an out of bounds area) as it really helps contextualise even greater height difference than exists within the room itself.

The art of this map was made in tandem with Matt Giblin.
